School play grounds, church yards, friends backyards, or your own front yard lawn maybe come to mind when you think back to all the places you’ve played ball or watched your kid play ball. With made up rules and sometimes not a sole with a glove, the best memories and biggest dreams of the big leagues are fed on theses “fields.” I’ve watched my kids find pick up games or practices in the oddest places really. Recently, an old unused gravel parking lot. The weather was just right, Dad gave the thumbs up to allow it and I got to sit back and watch strikes be called as if it was some championship game. From playing for years to watching my kids play, I’ve come to realize that a pristine field isn’t a requirement to becoming better at ball. With the will and want too, you can get better anywhere, including an old gravel parking lot.
